Building Links vs Getting Clicks

Now that my SEO site is up, I'm not sure what strategies I'm going to employ. I'm not the leading SEO expert in the field by any means, and ranking high on google with a term like "SEO Strategies" can cost up to $4.32 per click. I have up to 15,000 directories at my disposal and will be submitting SEO Time to about 50+ per day. Also. with my new account at TextLinks I've been given 25 free backlinks on my choice of over 5,000 different niche blogs. It looks like my strategy with this one isn't as much as link buildling as it is getting click throughs. Now I have to think of some really enticing link anchors...

What are some strategies you other challengers have employed?

You're Putting Too Much Faith in "The System"

Yesterday I talked about how Josh had canceled on me and I was going to just make 5 other outfits in the meantime. I went to the fabric store today, which I had been to previously to price materials, and they were closed. Apparently one of their pipes burst, and they're not sure exactly when they'll be back. Don't they know how inconvenienced this made me?!

Then I realized what I was doing. I was relying on one source to always be ready to supply me when I'm ready. They had never failed me in the past, and I didn't think that one day they might not be available. So I've been compiling a list of fabric and pattern resources all day. Even with this list, though, I've decided I'm not going to get started on making outfits until after the New Year.

Since I have absolutely zero money to invest into Cheat Your Way Thin (see what I did there?), I guess I'll have to skip it and get started on the SEO blog. Again, no start-up money, but I do have hosting at the moment, so I'm going to grab a .co.cc. and set it up with WordPress. Is that okay to say on a blogger blog?

I'm eager to see some new challengers in the $100,000 challenge! Your goals don't have to be as grandiose as mine. You could be questing for $10/day. How much easier would it be if you had a huge support system of other challengers working their way towards financial freedom?

Too Many Ideas Too Fast

Like I said in my last post, I have about a billion ideas floating around in my mind, but I can really only develop one at a time. Once they've moved past development stage and are in the process of bringing in some income, then I'll begin to concentrate on the next project. Of course, the first project will still be updated, but a quick 500 word update is about 30 minutes of my time as opposed to 30 days.

This is a list of projects I'd like to begin and the stages they're in. After one site has been developed, I'll move on to the next one.

1. A Cosplay Shop - ConWear.org
I'd like to make a website dedicated to sewing and creating cosplay outfits. For those of you not "in the know" cosplay is an abbreviation of 'costume play', which basically means dressing up. For anime and video game fans everywhere, this means more than just Halloween! But almost every cosplay shop I've ever been to is either way too expensive or made out of cheap, crappy looking materials.

I had an appointment with a boy named Josh to make an outfit for his girlfriend, but he canceled on me due to all the holiday activity. We'll meet in January to get things settled. Before I open the site officially, I'm going to add at least 5 outfits with 5 "complete the look" videos promoting make-up accessories. So far I'm 0/5, but I have coded the layout (PHP is so hard!). Once I have the 5 outfits and videos up, I'll begin directory submissions, CraigsList posting, and join some related forums.

2. A Weight Loss Blog & Vlog - Is The Weight Worthwhile
I've found some great products on ClickBank and would like to promote them via a blog and vlog. I'll buy the program and follow it myself in an effort to promote it. This will come after I've finished directory submission of ConWear. Although I've already made a blogger blog for it, I'm thinking about getting a co.cc and hosting it with HostGator.

3. An SEO Blog
It'd be nice to add various posts on SEO submission tactics that internet marketers can employ. Not that it'll be all that unique, but I think it'd be nice for mostly myself to have a blog filled with great SEO information and tactics that aren't shoving products down your throat. I'll add some ads, of course, and may do some site reviews, but I wont be constantly forcing people to buy every little thing.

4. An Article Writing Service
Apparently just having a 9th grade vocabulary and being a native English speaker makes me a highly sought after article writer. At some point, I may offer my article writing services at somewhere around $0.05/word. Writing a 500 word article I know something about takes me about 20-30 minutes, and I can easily pop out 10 a day. I don't expect to have that order volume, but I know that I'll at least get some, and when I do, they'll be happy with my service. I'll have to get some users to write testimonials, as well as post some stats as to how many customers buy again.

And of course, I want to do all of these things at once. I'm doing my best to just focus on one at a time, but it's so hard. It seems like no matter what I'm doing, I want to be doing something else. Definitely an issue I'll have to address!

How are you other 100k challengers doing?

The $100,000 Challenge

My name is Kat Tierney, and I have a spending problem. You see, I just can't find any money to spend! It's a huge problem for me and a lot of people I know. Because of that, I have these crazy money-making schemes swimming around my head all the time. It's hard to pick just one, and, while I know I can do all of these things, I have to implement them one at a time and it's pretty difficult deciding which one you're going to do first and sticking with it.

Now, I have goals I've set and they're pretty static. If you aim for nothing you're sure to hit it, but I really don't want to hit nothing. Meeting goals is quite easy:

1. Decide what you want.
2. Figure out what you have to do to get there.
3. Do it.

So I've compiled a list of goals I'd like to reach within the course of this challenge.

- Accrue a $500/month Google Adwords budget.
I'd like to be able to push some targeted ads on Google with a $500 budget while still making money on the products I'm advertising. As it stands, my budget is $0.

- Open up an awesome and informative blog.
And I don't just mean this one. Har-dee-har. Seriously, though, I love reading blogs about subjects that I've looked up. I like personal blogs, as well, but when I'm looking up information regarding a specific topic like SEO or weight loss, I like to read a free source of good information that's not constantly trying to push sales down my throat. I'd like to make at least one blog like this.

- Earn $100,000.
And the ultimate goal -- make $100,000. It'd be nice if it was within the course of 365 days, but for the moment I'm going to focus on just making this much money in general. I'm hoping that as I go along, other internet marketers will join in with their own money-making challenges so I can read along. There's nothing more fun than that. :)
